Whiskers2Tails Pet Care petsitters have been taking care of these lovely kitties for several weeks while their mom recovers from a bad auto accident in Texas. They are such good little kitties! They sure miss their mom, though!

Howl-o-ween Costume!

Pete and Riley had to try on the cute little hot dog costume at Petco a couple of weeks ago. Riley looks so cute in it! Pete, of course, was just embarrassed! I think they both are adorable!

Summit Dogs

Combine a crisp autumn weekend and two special doggies, and you get our weekend with Onyx and Finley, the Summit Dogs! Onyx is a 12 year old Dobie and Finley is an 8 year old Boxer. They are extra sweet and enjoyed the cool weather while wearing their snuggly jackets.

Pretty Kitties

Here are Lola and Daisy, two pretty kitties! Lola was so affectionate that she nearly tripped me everyday when I filled her food dish! Daisy was much more playful, especially liking the long feather toy pictured here. Nice, nice cats...

Chloe

I took care of Chloe for a few weeks while her mom and dad were out of town. She was quite friendly after a few visits and especially enjoyed playing with her toys. Isn't she beautiful!?

Summer Blue Dogs

Tasi and Bullet, the Blue Dogs, are darling doggies! It was so hot the days I was there that I was afraid they would burn the pads on their feet! We spent most of our time on the patio early in the morning and laying on the floor in the living room. Tasi got a really cute haircut for the summer - I think Bullet was jealous!

Bed & Biscuit Friends

We've recently had some friends stay with us at Ellie's Bed & Biscuit! Rockee is a sweetheart schnauzer. She is a frequent visitor and is always a welcome sight to Pete! Charlie is such a snuggle-pup! He is one of my favorite lap-sitters. Taz has been over a couple of times and loves to nap. Pete is always up for company!

Lord and Lady Russ

Another visit to the Russ home resulted in many snuggles with Lord Winston. Lady Isabella was less inclined to come out than Winston. All was well at their luxurious kittie home. What wonderful cats!

Fluffy Puppies

These are two of the sweetest pups ever! Bo and Jasmine are happy-go-lucky dogs with fluffy fur. They loved playing with each other and with me. Bo especially loved playing with a stuffed animal. Jasmine just wanted to be loved on.

Irish Hounds

Boy! Was it hot when I took care of these sweet dogs and their cat. Murphy and Paddy stayed outside for much of the day and enjoyed coming in the house to cool off. Blondie, the cat, enjoyed keeping to her favorite spot on a dining room chair, though she did get up to go eat and a few pets.

Bouncy Baxter

Here is Bouncy Baxter! He is a happy little dog that lives with 2 senior kitties. He has a nice backyard with some shade that we enjoyed during my visits. What a cutie pie!

Foster kitties

A friend of mine fosters pets from the Stillwater Humane Society and one day she asked if I could go by and check on some kittens. They were so cute! If I wasn't so busy with my business and starting a new job, I'd foster some. While I was at her house, I also checked in on her gecko and lizard that stayed with us at Ellie's B&B over Christmas. They were happy in their tanks. I'm so glad I could help out my friend, Erin.

Doggie Play Party!

Mad fun at Ellie's Bed & Biscuit Play Date
Pete and his lizard
Last night we had a fun play party with two Bed & Biscuit clients, Vonnie & Roxy (the Westies), Rockee (schnauzer) and Riley (border collie) along with Pete. They enjoyed a happy evening chasing and playing with each other, retrieving balls and the lizard toy.

That lizard was Pete's first toy, bought the day I brought him home. It remains his very favorite toy.

Rockee & Riley rockin' the yard!
Riley LOVED the tiny tennis ball so much that he retrieved it over and over! The dogs enjoyed the cool water in the turtle pool and rolling in the grass. We were also joined by Pete's bestie from the neighborhood, Sammie.

Taz and his owner, David
Terrific fun was had by all, and we'll probably repeat high energy activity tonight when our newest friend, Taz, stays with us at Ellie's B&B.
Roxy & Vonnie checking out the backyard.

Okay, who has the lizard?

The Russ Dynasty: Lord Winston and Lady Isabella

Lord Winston and Lady Isabella

Did you know that people long ago thought that Maine Coon cats existed as a result of breeding between raccoons and native shorthair cats!? How crazy is that! My research says that it is more likely Maine Coons resulted from the mating between native cats and cats that were brought to the Americas by the Vikings. Their coats are long, ears tufted, and tails quite fluffy because they are cats suited to colder weather.

Whiskers2Tails Pet Care introduces two of it's newest clients, Winston and Isabella. They are Maine Coon siblings and are just lovely. They are house-dwellers who would not come out during our first pet sitting visit - no matter what!
Ummm, who are you? Are you supposed to be in my castle!?

However, on our second visit, Winston slyly poked his head around the corner, and then, so did Isabella!

Winston decided to check out my purse (was he looking for a toy, a snack, his sister...) as Isabella hopped up on the back of the couch to quiz me as to the purpose of my visit.
Look deeply, deeply, into my eyes...

Lucky for me, both cats were not disdainful of my visits, and we are now on a first name basis! Enjoy the slide show below of more photographs of the beautiful, fun-loving Lord Winston and Lady Isabella:

Country Pupkins

Gundy and Miles chowing down!
I have enjoyed getting to know the Country Pupkins, Gundy, Miles, and Aggie. Miles is the oldest of the bunch, showing his white whiskers as he smiles at me!

Gundy is playful and likes to fetch the ball!
Funny kissy-face Aggie!

Aggie is just plain crazy about plastic! She carries around her red plastic bowl and anything else plastic while running at 90 to nothing!

They have a big yard to play in and another pup, Turner, that they share it with. The dogs love their owners and their little baby girl, too.
Let's play ball!

Sweet Rusty

I think Rusty is the smallest dog we've had over here at Ellie's Bed & Biscuit. He had a great time playing with Pete and my sister's dog, Henry, who came over for a while. He ran around the backyard, played "steal the squeaky," and snuggled on my lap. Such a sweetie! We can't wait to have Rusty back again.

A Great, Great Dane

Last week, I got to house-sit and pet-sit for a couple who went on their second honeymoon. Their doggie is the lovable and sweet, Forrest! We had many romps around the backyard, tug-of-war games, and walks around the neighborhood and over by Boomer Lake. One day, Forrest got to have a play date with his friend Zoe, the boxer. They had a rip-roarin' good time! We had an unwelcome guest, too. A snake wandered into the kitchen when I left the back door open for Forrest to come in when he was done with his business and I went to turn off the television. I came back in to find a S N A K E on the kitchen floor! ICKKKK! I shuffled it out using a newspaper and was completely shaken for the rest of the night! Forrest was not impressed with  my bravery at getting the snake out. He was too busy eating his dinner! All in all, it was a fun job for me, even if my sister had to keep my little Pete at her house so he wouldn't be too lonely without me at home. He had a great vaca - he got so spend a few days with his buddy, Henry!

Here are some cute pics I took of Forrest. He's a wonderful friend:

Dear Bailey Will be Remembered

Just heard from my clients that their dog, Bailey, passed away. My heart is broken for her family. She was truly a magnificent dog and one of my favorites. Rest in peace, dear Bailey...

Buddy and Bella's Spring Break

Buddy and Bella got to stay home when their family went to visit more family over Spring Break 2011. We enjoyed lots of snuggles, food, yard play, and playing with Buddy's "Lion King" toy. Here are some photos of Buddy and Bella:

Princess Pepper

Whiskers2Tails Pet Care introduces... Princess Pepper! We were happy to spend some time with this lovely, happy pup last weekend. She's a schnauzer with lots of energy for an older lady. She especially enjoyed going for walks. When I said "let's head out for a walk," she'd do a spinning, joyful dance! Here are some pictures of our visits:

Piggy at Whiskers2Tails Pet Care Doggy Daycare

Piggy was a little apprehensive about staying for the day at Whiskers2Tails daycare. She was a little shy at first with the other dogs, but by the end of the day, she was running and playing with all the other dogs. Here is a short slideshow of her day:

The Mr. T's

Trooper and Toby
Here are Trooper (corgi) and Toby (pug). They are sibs in a really big duplex here in Stillwater. They love to play together. Trooper especially likes to play tug of war and then Toby joins in to team up with Trooper against anybody brave enough to pull against them.

They're a couple of cuddly cuties!

Who has the biggest feet?

When I pet sat my friend Duke, the Great Dane, We measured our feet together (see picture). Who do you think has bigger feet?!

Harvey's Adventures at Ellie's Bed & Biscuit

Harvey
Here's Harvey! He is a pitbull and Brittany spaniel mix that came to spend some time at Ellie's Bed & Biscuit! His owners were having some company and one of the family members was allergic to dogs, so he came to visit Pete and me. He is the sweetest, most gentle pit mix I've ever met! He LOVED getting shoulder massages and ear rubs. He and Pete had a wonderful time playing together in the backyard. We hope he gets to come back very soon to play.
Playing with Pete

I was just SURE I could fit through here!

Handsome profile there, Harvey!

Hill Cats

Over the winter holidays I was asked to take care of 5 kitties that live in a big house on the top of a hill with a Stillwater view. They all were so nice and most of them were quite friendly. They have a cool electronic cat door that rises when their collar magnets come close to it. So awesome! Here are their pictures:

Happy Birthday Riley!

On February 12th, I hosted a birthday party for my best friend's dog, Riley. It was really the anniversary date of Lauren's adoption of Riley. She is a cutie pie doggy! Here she is with her gift pile. Riley loves to snuggle and play with her pal, Pete. Lauren brought a cake for the humans at the party and I made a pupcake for Riley and her puppy friends. Here are Pete and Riley eating their cake, a picture of the pupcake and the people cake!

Here's the recipe for the pupcake:

Peanut Butter Carrot Pupcake
1 c. flour
1 t. baking soda
1/4 c. peanut butter
1/4 c. vegetable oil
1 c. shredded carrots
1 t. vanilla
1/3 c. honey
1 egg

Frosting:
1 T peanut butter
1/4 c. cream cheese

Mix flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into greased 8" round cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let cool. I baked my pupcake in a cupcake baking pan I found at Walmart. For the frosting, mix the peanut butter and cream cheese together and put in a plastic zippy bag. Snip off the corner and decorate.

The dogs loved it and even a couple of people at the party sampled it and liked it.

Boy's Weekend

Cutie patootie!
Ellie's Bed & Biscuit hosted our friend, Charlie, this weekend. Pete and Charlie had a great time running around the house and backyard chasing each other and playing.

They did tricks to earn treats! The took naps and lay on my lap for tv viewing. Here's Charlie slung over my lap checking out Gus walking by. Gus isn't too impressed with the dogs' behavior. He hid most of the weekend, only coming out for his meals.

Charlie and Pete enjoyed a couple of really fun walks! Pete is familiar with our daily neighborhood routine, but Charlie had to smell the poop roses along the way. We saw lots of pooches out for walks and lots of people riding bicycles.

Our last evening together, we all sat on the backyard swing and watched the birds coming in to eat from the birdfeeder and the dogs in the adjoining yards chasing and barking at one another. It was a relaxing way to end the weekend. Charlie, we can't wait for you to come back, buddy! Hugs to you!

My Angel, Sox

My little angel, Sox
This morning I buried my special long-time friend, my sweet cat Sox. She was close to 17 years old, ill and mostly deaf. She was with me almost as long as my dear daughter, who brought her home one day when she was just 8 years old. We had just moved into a new house and of course, we needed a kittie to keep us company. She slept next to Lauren's head until Lauren married and moved away, then she became my pillow partner. Sox was smart and full of energy. She could still jump up on the kitchen counter for her bowl of food (so the dogs wouldn't eat it) and if I was late, she would let me know! Her gentle purr soothed me as I went through devastating divorces and my empty nest period when Lauren moved away. She greeted everyone with a happy meow and a very contented purr when she sat on many friends' and family members' laps. No one was a stranger to Sox. She mothered her other "siblings", Taffy, Ellie, Gus and Pete, and was my comfort, my friend. And so to her I dedicate this small but special place... I love you dear Sox, and I'll see you in Heaven. Be sure to take special care of Taffy and Ellie for me until we're all together again.

Paying It Forward

Pete modeling his new collar!
Last evening, while scrolling through the list of blogs I follow, I found "Pay It Forward" on Becky Povich's Blog. What a wonderful idea!

~The Rules~

ME: I will create something handmade to send to the First Five People who leave a comment on this post saying they would like to participate!

YOU: To play along you must be willing to repost this and do the same, offering something handmade to five other people. (At this part of The Rules, it didn't say the five people must be the first five to leave a comment on your blog, but that seems to be the thing to do.)

ME: So, I left a comment on Becky Povich's Blog and if I'm correct, I was the first person! Yay! That means I'll get something homemade from her!

My handmade "something" will probably be pet-related. I hope you enjoy paying it forward in your life. I enjoy paying it forward by picking up other dog owners' poo that they leave behind (shame on you people!) and by giving discounts to students and seniors for taking care of their pets.

YOU & ME, BOTH: All handmade "gifts" will be sent sometime in 2011. Mine will be sent by the end of February...or else I'll forget! ☺

A great weekend!

I had so much fun with all my sitting critters! Kodiak and I played with his "stuffing-less" skunk - his favorite toy and I was able to see almost all the kitties at Kittie Cottage! I also met 3 new doggy clients. Here are some pictures from the weekend!
