Boy's Weekend

Cutie patootie!
Ellie's Bed & Biscuit hosted our friend, Charlie, this weekend. Pete and Charlie had a great time running around the house and backyard chasing each other and playing.

They did tricks to earn treats! The took naps and lay on my lap for tv viewing. Here's Charlie slung over my lap checking out Gus walking by. Gus isn't too impressed with the dogs' behavior. He hid most of the weekend, only coming out for his meals.

Charlie and Pete enjoyed a couple of really fun walks! Pete is familiar with our daily neighborhood routine, but Charlie had to smell the poop roses along the way. We saw lots of pooches out for walks and lots of people riding bicycles.

Our last evening together, we all sat on the backyard swing and watched the birds coming in to eat from the birdfeeder and the dogs in the adjoining yards chasing and barking at one another. It was a relaxing way to end the weekend. Charlie, we can't wait for you to come back, buddy! Hugs to you!

My Angel, Sox

My little angel, Sox
This morning I buried my special long-time friend, my sweet cat Sox. She was close to 17 years old, ill and mostly deaf. She was with me almost as long as my dear daughter, who brought her home one day when she was just 8 years old. We had just moved into a new house and of course, we needed a kittie to keep us company. She slept next to Lauren's head until Lauren married and moved away, then she became my pillow partner. Sox was smart and full of energy. She could still jump up on the kitchen counter for her bowl of food (so the dogs wouldn't eat it) and if I was late, she would let me know! Her gentle purr soothed me as I went through devastating divorces and my empty nest period when Lauren moved away. She greeted everyone with a happy meow and a very contented purr when she sat on many friends' and family members' laps. No one was a stranger to Sox. She mothered her other "siblings", Taffy, Ellie, Gus and Pete, and was my comfort, my friend. And so to her I dedicate this small but special place... I love you dear Sox, and I'll see you in Heaven. Be sure to take special care of Taffy and Ellie for me until we're all together again.

Paying It Forward

Pete modeling his new collar!
Last evening, while scrolling through the list of blogs I follow, I found "Pay It Forward" on Becky Povich's Blog. What a wonderful idea!

~The Rules~

ME: I will create something handmade to send to the First Five People who leave a comment on this post saying they would like to participate!

YOU: To play along you must be willing to repost this and do the same, offering something handmade to five other people. (At this part of The Rules, it didn't say the five people must be the first five to leave a comment on your blog, but that seems to be the thing to do.)

ME: So, I left a comment on Becky Povich's Blog and if I'm correct, I was the first person! Yay! That means I'll get something homemade from her!

My handmade "something" will probably be pet-related. I hope you enjoy paying it forward in your life. I enjoy paying it forward by picking up other dog owners' poo that they leave behind (shame on you people!) and by giving discounts to students and seniors for taking care of their pets.

YOU & ME, BOTH: All handmade "gifts" will be sent sometime in 2011. Mine will be sent by the end of February...or else I'll forget! ☺
