Last minute guest

Pete has the bone at the moment...
I got a last minute call from a young couple who traveled from Texas to watch the OSU-OU game here in Stillwater. Lo and behold, the apartment complex where their friends live doesn't allow pets. (Apparently, the men were in charge of this trip-so planning....hmmmm...you know.) Anyhoo, Pete and I were lucky enough to meet Levi. He is a wild rumpus of a dog! He and Pete chased each other around the yard (reminded me of when Doyle stayed a couple of weeks ago) and played with toys in the house. They have been trading a big, giant bone back and forth for the last hour! Here are some fun pictures of Levi:
Ummmm there might be a problem here...
Happy boy!

Gentle Giants

I have had the pleasure over the last few days to look after two lovely dogs named Bailey and Duke. Bailey is a German Shepherd (she's actually FROM Germany) and is just the sweetest girl ever! She looks at you with the most loving eyes and you KNOW she cares for you. She has a little trouble getting around now that she's older, but you'd never know if she was in pain at all - she is so positive and happy. She has an amazing "soft" bark and we had several 'barkersations" together.
Bailey
Then, there is Duke. He is a Great Dane - 'nuff said! No, really, he is such a kind, gentle dog. He nuzzles his friend Bailey and lets her drink first. What a gentleman! He gets lots of comments when he goes for walks, but what he really likes . . . are squirrels! He loves to watch them skittering around in the trees. He chases a ball (a big one) in the house and walks very nicely on the leash. He gets so excited about going outside - especially if he is going for a walk.

Duke
I will surely miss my early morning walks with these two. I just fell in love with them both! Here are some more candid shots of the two of them - such great dogs! Their family was missed, though!

Rats! Can't the Dallas Cowboys win on Thanksgiving!?
Duke's my buddy!

Love this quote

If we treated everyone we meet with the same affection we bestow upon our favorite cat, they, too, would purr.~Martin Buxbaum

Shadow

Two cuties

I have had the pleasure of meeting Buddy and Bella. Buddy is a Pomerpoo and Bella was a stray that her owners took in. I had a lot of fun taking care of these two babies. Bella purrs when she eats and Buddy loves to play with his "Simba" stuffed animal. I know someone who would pay dearly for a new stuffed "Simba" toy if you have one! :0)

Another Fluffy Kittie Friend

Here are my good friends with whiskers, Peanut and Panda. You can probably tell which one is Panda! She is very fluffy and enjoys being brushed! Peanut is a good leash-walker. You can tell they are pretty good buddies! Love my whiskered friends!

Sandpaper kisses

So, this is Stripes: he's FLUFFY - just like me and he was sleepy when I visited this morning. He loves playing with his fleece "string" toy, giving sandpaper kisses, and absolutely loves a tummy rub!

Big yawwwwn...

We snuggled on the couch for about 15 minutes and I didn't want to leave - he was so cuddly! Too bad his brother Smokie didn't come out of hiding or he would have gotten equal lovins! Glad the boys' family will be enjoying their Thanksgiving without worrying about their kitties!

ALMOST lost doggies

Pete and I were returning from our walk this evening to find two neighborhood doggies in our yard. They had somehow gotten their fence latch unhooked and escaped from their backyard. I ran up to the house and rang the doorbell, but no one was home. So I put Pete in the house, scooped up the older, littler dog and carried him back to my neighbors' house. The younger dog skedaddled into his yard and I set the little one down and latched the fence. The little one had a phone tag on him, so I called and left a message about their escape. Later, I saw some people in their driveway - turns out they were friends coming by to feed the dogs. I told them what happened and the young man put a brick in front of the gate so it couldn't get pushed open again. I'm sure glad I had developed a relationship with these little dogs because they could have run away from me and been hit on our busy street! This shows how important it is to know your neighbors and keep identification tags on your dogs! So glad our little doggie friends are safe tonight!

Henry's new bone

Henry and Lisa came over for lunch today with my Mom and nieces, Kelsea and Kori. Henry stole one of Pete's bones while he was here, so we sent him home with it! Lisa texted me later saying that he loved it! Henry is a sweet soul. Lisa fostered him through heartworm treatment for the Humane Society and eventually adopted him. He had a hard life before Lisa, but now they are best buds!

Puppy lap blankies

My mom made a lap blanket for me to put over my lap when Pete sits on me so I don't get quite so hairy. I use it all the time. Sometimes, I just lay it across the top of my couch where Pete, Sox and Gus like to hang out. It keeps down the hair coverage at our house. She is selling some that she made for $15. They are double-sided - fleece on one side and quilted fabric on the other. Here are some pictures of Pete and Sox using the ones on my couches and the ones she has for sale. Email me at whiskers2tailspetcare@yahoo.com if you want to purchase one!

Kodiak and Maggie

Here are Kodiak and Maggie. They are my new whiskered friends! Kodiak loves to play tug-o-war and sniffing EVERYTHING! Maggie is a snuggly-puppy and loves to sit on my lap.

Busy week!

Last week was really busy! I went to three networking events to promote my business, worked at the church, and substituted at Highland Park Elementary School. Pete and I went for walks every evening and they were made better because he wore his new reflective vest so we could be seen better by the fast drivers on our street!

Doggy Pumpkin Mini Muffins

I made doggy pumpkin mini muffins last night. I had finished them and they were cooling on the counter. After a while I noticed Pete slinking through the living room with something in his mouth and a VERY guilty look on his face - he had one! I jumped up and discovered Sox on the counter with one in HER mouth - the little thief! They were working in cahoots!

Here's a picture of the yummy muffins - Doyle's mom said he was really sad when his bag of muffins was gone!

Petco Saturday Afternoon

Pete and I LOVE Petco! We go about every week to visit Leah, Dana, and Erin. Today, Erin hosted a little play date and encouraged us all in our training. We met Delilah - a Pharaoh Hound - and she's so pretty! We also saw our friends Callie and Summer. Debbie from Hound Dog Rescue(405-612-9529), was there with a couple of her rescue dogs. Great fun was had by all!

Humane Society Success

I took a beautiful, adoptable black lab puppy named "Charlie Brown" down to the Three Points Karate Kickathon where they raised $8500 for the Humane Society. Congratulations Karate students! We are so proud of you! I was really impressed by a young man from Perkins who told me all about his honor stripes that he earned by positive behavior and having a good attitude. I would highly recommend Three Points Karate to anyone who wants to take karate lessons. The event was well organized and food was provided by Boomerang's - yummy hotdogs! Thanks for a great event! Too bad the Stillwater NewsPress didn't cover it - what is wrong with our hometown newspaper that they failed to send a reporter and photographer to cover such a positive experience for the youth in our town and support the Humane Society at the same time!?

Bed & Biscuit with Doyle

Doyle came to spend the night with us last night. He was a little timid right after his mom left, and sometimes looked wistfully at the door, but warmed up to us all quickly. We went for a long walk around the neighborhood before it got too dark. Doyle and Pete took time to chase each other around the backyard and get to know each other pretty well. Later in the evening, Doyle snuggled with Kim on the floor and got plenty of belly rubs! Pete played "keep away" with Doyle with his quacky duck. When he laid it down to nibble some kibble, Doyle sped off with it and quacked it under the dining room table!

Doyle's Mimi picked him up this morning - all pooped out from his playtime out in the backyard this morning. A great time was had by all!

The beginning

I couldn't believe that at age 50 I didn't have a job for which I attended many years of college. After 5 months of searching, I decided to finally just give MYSELF a job. I started Whiskers2Tails Pet Care on my 50th birthday, and have been having the time of my life! I am learning so much about how to run a business, advertising, budgeting, and so on. I will try to give information about pet-friendly places here in Stillwater and surrounding communities as I find out about them. I hope that my business takes off and is enough to sustain me throughout my season of temporary unemployment by a school district and beyond!
